With February still going strong with movies Black Panther and Annihilation, this March too we have epic budget and new directional debuts this March. A variety of sci-fi, action, psychological thrillers, animation, comedy are lining up to get released this month to tease our taste buds. In this list we will go through all the highly anticipated movies that are going to get released this March. Enjoy!

Friday, March 9th

#1. A Wrinkle in Time

  • Genre : Sci-Fi/ Adaptation
  • Director : Ava DuVernay
  • Starring : Storm Reid, Oprah Winfrey, Resse Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Zach Galifianakis, Chris Pine.

An epic fantasy film adapted from the classic 1963 novel by Madeleine L’Engle. A young girl (Storm Reid) sets on a space journey to find her missing father (Chris Pine) who got lost in an experiment gone wrong with the help of her classmates and three magical beings (Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling). To all the space nerds this film shows promises to take you to multiple planets across the universe to satisfy your taste buds.

#2. The Strangers : Prey At Night

  • Starring : Christina Hendricks, Bailee Madison, Lewis Pullman

The Strangers, was a huge hit when it hit the theaters back on 2008. This March, hedonistic takes a top notch with, The Strangers 2, screen-written by Bryan Bertino and Ben Ketai. In this movie, the three masked psychopaths are back to target a family in a deserted mobile home park to test the family’s every limit.

This film also known as ‘American Express’ has a star-studded casting. The film is set on the borders of Mexico and is basically about drugs, money and survival with dark comedy to ease up the atmosphere. David Oyelowo, is sent to the borders of Mexico for a reverse drug smuggle by Charlize Theron. But he get involves with deceitful business partners, Mexican drug lords, the police. Will he be able to survive in this God forsaken place. Hail to the theaters to get the answers. But this movie will sure take you guys on a wild ride.

I love heist movies so much. They are always action packed, smart and filled with sophisticated gadgets, ooofff, (it’s hot). This March too we have a heist movie coming. The film centers around a group of hackers who plans to rob a US Mint facility on a remote coastal area. With a Category 5 Hurricane about to hit the area, it is up to a treasury agent and a meteorologist to stop the robbers by all means.

#5. Tomb Raider

  • Starring : Alicia Vikander, Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu, Dominic West, Hannah John-Kamen, Kristin Scott Thomas

This film is a reboot to the legendary franchise, played by Angelina Jolie. Vikander will be seen walking in the shoes of Angelina Jolie. Alicia Vikander is Lara Croft, who is seen in this movie travelling half-way through the world to Japan, to a mythical island to solve the mysterious death of her father.


#6. Love, Simon

  • Starring : Nick Robinson, Logan MiIler, Jennifer Garner

The film is based on the novel by Becky Albertalli, where a 17 year-old boy Simon Spier, like everybody wants to fall in love like anybody of his age would want. But his love life is a little complicated as he has yet to tell his parents and his friends that he is gay and he has secretly fallen in love with an online guy whose identity he doesn’t know.

This coming-of-age film centers around a 17- year old Erica Vandross (Zoey Deutch), whose carefree life changes when her mother invites her boyfriend and his estranged son to live with them.

#8. Pacific Rim: Uprising

After Black Panther, smashed records in February, Pacific Rim : Uprising is the most highly anticipated film with ever stronger monsters and giant robots in March. Ever since the release of their trailer, I’m anxiously waiting for this movie. This film will mark Steven S. DeKnight’s first directional debut. John Boyega stars as Jake Pentecost, a once promising Jaeger pilot who is on the brink of self-destruction, is given a last chance to fight against the ‘Kaijus’ and save humanity from extinction. He is joined by a rival pilot Lambert and a young Jaeger hacker, Amara to kill them Kaijus.

#9. Unsane

  • Genre : Psychological Thriller/Drama
  • Director : Steven Soderbergh
  • Starring : Claire Foy, Juno Temple, Joshua Leonard

The film was entirely shot on an iPhone. Can you believe that? This year’s most anticipated psychological thriller is shot on a device that you are currently using. Steven Soderbergh’s experimental film tells the story of a woman who is committed to a mental institution without any ground evidence of her being insane. There in she becomes paranoid about being stalked. Is her paranoia for real or just a bluff? I myself is so excited for this movie.


#10. Midnight Sun

  • Starring : Bella Thorne, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Tiera Skovbye

The film is based on a 2006 Japanese film, Taiyo No Uta. Bella Thorne stars as 17-year-old Katie Price in this heart warming film. Katie suffers from a very rare skin disease which refrains her from going out in the sunlight. Katie starts playing guitar for travelers and secretly falls for Charlie (Patrick Schwarzenegger). They began a very strong relationship despite Katie hiding her condition from him.

Things change for Wade when the game offers a huge fortune as a prize for participating in a virtual treasure hunt. Wade goes on the quest unaware that there are other high profile parties who are also after the fortune.
